Versus

East Penn High School

Infallible

For about five minutes it was a typical Northern, East Penn rivalry game.  Then the Bears kicked off…and the Panthers were left in the dust.

The term "offensive explosion" doesn't do the Northern offensive unit's performance justice as they scored six touchdowns on five 1st half possessions.  Five different Bears scored touchdowns and some were called back on penalties.  Simply put, Northern couldn't be stopped.   From Mike Romagnoli who had nearly 200 yards rushing to Craig Moose who blew through the center of the goal line offense, to Jimmy Miller, Michael Davies, and Dane Eichelberger, everyone who carried the ball did damage to the depleted East Penn defense.  Corey Betz couldn't/wouldn't be stopped when he hauled in a 4th down catch from Colby and ran over three Panther defenders en-route to the end zone.

The defense got it going early when East Penn was pounded on their first offensive possession and were forced to punt from deep in their own end zone.  Chad Halterman received the punt on a dead run and blasted his way for Northern's first touchdown of the night.  The defense was relentless.  Brandon Adams had his best game yet being a virtual wall in the center of the D Line.  Craig Moose not only scored a rushing touchdown, but punished ball carriers all night long ending up with six tackles.  The secondary picked off East Penn passes to not only kill drives, but to kill two scoring threats.  Sacked and harassed all night long, Panther QB Nicholas Pisani, was just throwing it up for grabs.  In all, Pisani threw four picks.

The Bears led after 2 quarters 42-0 and the 3rd was started with the "Mercy Rule" rule in effect.  At that point, the game was essentially over.

Next week, the Bears travel to Perry County to meet Susquenita who defeated Shippensburg 8-0.

Next Week at Susquenita.  Kickoff is at 7:30 P.M.
