Week 4
Bears Shut Down Blue Devils
September 21, 2007
Northern 38 – Greencastle 7
Greencastle came in to Bostic with the number 1 rushing offense
in the mid-state, number 5 overall. They
also had the number 1 defense allowing only 4 points per game. After tonight’s clash, they won’t be either.
The Blue Devils have an exceptional line both offensively and
defensively but were no match for the Purple and White. Northern ravaged their D line rolling up 459
total yards of total offense. Michael Davies
was brilliant again rushing for 187 yards himself on 17 carries. Bubba Smith added 67 as the Bears virtually
ran at will behind their amazing Offensive line. Jordan Rutherford, in full command of the
offense, was very efficient completing 9 of 16 passes for 167 yards and a
touchdown.
Defensively, Greencastle could not do anything. The Polar Wall of Scott, McAleer, Myers, and Wenger
neutralized the Blue Devil attack allowing only 7 points which came on a single
drive in the 3rd quarter and yielded only 188 total yards. The secondary of Potteiger, Stephenson, and
Bleiler gave up only one completion for 25 yards. Davies and Sanders were in the Devil backfield
all night long.
It was a solid, complete effort by Northern who have now rolled
to 22 consecutive regular season victories. The Bears are now 1-0 in the conference and
look forward to a trip to
Keep it rolling Bears!
