Versus

Dover Area High School

On a perfect night for football, Coach Mauck led the Polar Bears out onto the field for their final tune-up before the season gets underway next week at Bermudian Springs. Working the younger men during the first few sets of ten plays, there were many bright spots noted on both sides of the ball.  Watching the Monday night players, one can't help but feel confident for the future of Northern Football

When the Varsity took the field, the intensity was kicked up a notch.  Coach Wise's defense was aggressive and thoroughly confused Dover's offense who had trouble

gaining any offensive footing. Our boys were fired up and hit hard and often. Sophomore Lorne Siefert began the blast with a crushing blind side sack of Dover's QB on the first play of the scrimmage. Most of the boys looked to be in mid-season form. On the offensive side of the ball, several players stepped up and shined through the vanilla package the coaches put in for the scrimmage. With scouts from nearly every team in the Mid-Penn Colonial on hand, Coach Mauck and his staff weren't about to tip their hand before the regular season began.

Afterward, Coach Mauck mentioned that he was pleased with the conditioning of his team. He let them know that there was still much work to be done before Friday Night's Season Opener and wished them well during the first week of school.
