Week 5

HOMECOMING CAPPED WITH A TOUGH WIN OVER THE GREYHOUNDS!
Never, ever, take a Greyhound lightly. That was the lesson in last night's
Homecoming game against the Shippensburg Greyhounds at Bostic. Ship came to play. The days of hounds being a Colonial
doormat are apparently over. They
brought with them a very good running attack which included FB Milton
Webber who rushed 20 times for 112 yards. The Bears scored first when Colby hit Cory Betz for a 36
yard touchdown on a beautiful touch pass that Cory pulled in over the
shoulder. Shippensburg came right
back on their initial drive moving nearly the length of the field but hit
the wall when Hound QB Josh Ebersole who was hit while throwing lofted a
duck that was picked off by Keith Kunkle and returned to mid-field. Following the interception, the Bears
marched 63 yards on 6 plays mixing it up with the running and passing
game. Scottie Davies took it in
from 7 yards out on the 6th play of the drive and the Bears went up
14-0. They took that lead into the
locker room. The 3rd quarter saw
the Bears get out to a 17-0 lead when Steve Morret connected on a 28 yard
field goal. After a 1 yard touchdown
pass by Ebersole getting the Greyhounds to within 10 points, Northern's
offense took over and completely dominated the Greyhounds, particularly
with the running of Mike Romagnoli who, himself, carried 14 times for 115
yards and scored the final touchdown.
Northern won the game 24-7, and in the process learned quite a bit
about their team. Next week
